EXPERIMENT 1
Name
of the experiment – Litmus test
Experiment to test the nature of the substances by litmus test was selected from Olabs developed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and CDAC Mumbai. The objective of the experiment is to understand about the identification of nature of substances with litmus solution.
Name
of the experiment: Reaction of acid with metal
Experiments to show the properties of acid such as reaction of acid with zinc metal were selected from Olabs developed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and CDAC Mumbai. The objective of the experiment is to understand about the reaction of acids with metals. Another experiment was also selected to show the reaction of acids with metals. In this, aluminium metal was used instead of zinc metal. The liberation of hydrogen gas by the action of acids with metals are confirmed in this experiment.
Name
of the experiment: Reaction of acid with carbonates
Experiments
to show the properties of acid such as
reaction of acid with metal carbonates were selected from Olabs developed by
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and CDAC Mumbai. The objective of the experiment is
to understand about the reaction of acids with metal carbonates. Here the
experiment demonstrates the reaction of sodium carbonate with hydrochloric
acid.
Name of the
experiment: Acidic nature of non-metallic oxides
An experiment that shows the acidic nature of non-metallic oxide was selected from Olabs. In the experiment, burning of sulphur yields sulphur dioxide which in turns reacts with water to form sulphurous acid. The nature of the product formed is confirmed by litmus test.
Name
of the experiment – Litmus test
Experiment to test the nature of the substances by litmus test was selected from Olabs developed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and CDAC Mumbai. The objective of the experiment is to understand about the identification of bases with litmus solution.
Name
of the experiment: Basic nature of metallic oxides
An experiment that shows the basic nature of metallic oxide was selected from Olabs. In the experiment, burning of magnesium ribbon yields magnesium oxide which in turns reacts with water to form magnesium hydroxide. The nature of the product formed is confirmed by litmus test.
EXPERIMENT 7
Name of the
experiment: Neutralisation reaction
In this experiment, the reaction of strong acid (HCl) with strong base (NaOH) was selected to show the neutralisation reaction. The experiment also showed the importance of concentration as a factor in neutralisation reaction.

EXPERIMENT 8
Name of the
experiment : pH determination
The
experiment showed the pH of different substances including vegetable and fruit
juices, acids, bases, and household items. The pH is determined with the help of
universal indicator.
